THE EARLY YEARSÂ Â Â 1983-1985

Messenger was formed in 1983 by three Christian musicians who lived in a city just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Messenger's goal at that time was "to provide Christian teens with some music that would strengthen their faith in Jesus Christ while providing melodies and rock rhythms that they could enjoy".   At the time of formation, the band was made up of Ronny Starmer (Acoustic Guitars, Harmonica), Randy Brennan (Bass and Acoustic Guitars), and Tommy Sanders (Electric / Lead Guitars)

MIDDLE YEARSÂ Â 1986-1989

By 1986, Messenger had grown to six musicians, and they had given concerts to over a hundred Christian groups and organizations. Still containing the "original three" musicians, drummer Joe Carlan, Keyboardist & Guitarist Joey Garvey, and Sound Technician Kent Elliott were added to the group. The band's first album, The Truth Is In Jesus was recorded shortly after the start of 1986.

Although the members of Messenger fluctuated several times over the years, the band stayed together until 1993.  At that time it had written, produced, and distributed three Albums and had played at over a thousand venues.
